Link's Awakening has two versions, the original GameBoy version, and the remastered color version. There are then three versions within each of these two - 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2.
Some glitches will only work on a specific version of the game, In which case you should check the glitch header at the top of the page.

If your start screen looks like this, you have the version referred to as "B&W".
Version 1.0:
If you are able to perform the No Fishing glitch or the Select Glitch and in the beginning dialog the word 'the' is missing before the word 'back', then you have version 1.0. |
 DX |
If your start screen looks like this, you have the version referred to as "DX" (obviously this screen will be in 4 shades of grey if you are playing on an older GameBoy).
To find out your version, simply see if the word 'the' is added before the word 'back' at the beginning dialog. If it has, you have DX v1.2. If not, you either have v1.0 or v1.1. |
