Breath of the Wild Glitches - Attack Animation Cancel
There are two methods to perform this glitch.
Method 1 - Jump Cancel
Instructions
- Use the "Attack" button.
- After the beginning of the animation, use the "Jump" button, the timing depending on the type of weapon you are using.
Result
If done correctly, the attack animation will stop and be remplaced by the jump animation but you will still inflict damage.
Notes
This trick still works in the 1.1.1 version of the game.
This method is the most difficult and useless one. The timing is generally tight and the result slower than the actual attack animation. The only "use" for it is probably for two-handed weapons which animations are really slow (or if you want to sidehop, blackflip/frontflip to dodge an attack or do "quickly" a different combo before ending the animation).
(Until a video is found, you can see an example here : https://youtu.be/yXF2cQg151o?t=6m52s. To acquire the timing, you can for example practice on a tree or with the weak enemies on the Great Plateau.)
Method 2 - Swap Weapon Cancel
Instructions
- Use the "Attack" button.
- During your attack, use the "Swap weapon" button and switch to another weapon.
Result
If done correctly, the attack animation will stop and you will be able to immediately attack with your next weapon.
Notes
This trick still works in the 1.1.1 version of the game.
This second method is notably usefull for one-handed weapons (before doing the fourth attack combo, which is slower than the others three and makes sometimes the AI to react differently), spears-like weapons (before doing the fifth attack combo, for the same reasons mentioned before) and wands (before doing the fourth attack combo, which requires them to recharge and makes them momentarily unusable). Swapping between two-handed weapons is not that efficient but can be used.
It is actually possible to do this method with only one weapon by switching to the "Remove" option, immediately use again the "Swap weapon" button back to your only weapon, but this will be slower than swapping between two weapons.
