Ways to become Fierce Deity Link

Clock Town Guards

If you enter Clock Town, the guards won't let you out; they act as though you are normal Link but don't stop blocking you. Use any of these methods to get out of Clocktown:

Escape From Clock Town (A)

  1. Go and stand on either side of one of the Clocktown Guards.
  2. Face away from the guard, hold Z, and attempt to "backstep" between the guard and the wall.

You should go a little between the guard and the wall, but not enough to get past him, once you are like this press A to talk to him, the conversation should start, then the screen will fade to black and you will appear outside Clocktown.

Escape From Clock Town (B)

  1. Before becoming Fierce Deity Link, get a Magic Bean and go to the Observatory.
  2. Go into the area outside the Observatory that has a fence around it, and plant and water the Magic Bean in the dirt patch there.
  3. When you want to leave Clock Town as FD Link, come here through the Observatory (getting through the passages can be tricky due to your height) and climb onto the bean platform to be carried into Termina Field.

Other Oddities

  • In 3DS version, opening doors crashes game. This most likely means that FD Link doesn't have a door opening animation in the 3DS version.
  • In 3DS version, trying to climb a ladder results in losing control over Link. Can be skipped by pressing "B" and waiting a while.
  • If you talk to any of the Bomber kids (except the one you give the code to) or shopkeepers, the game freezes. This is likely because their behavior towards Fierce Deity Link is "undefined". This is less likely to happen in the 3DS version.
  • If you enter the Stock Pot Inn, you cannot get back out unless you wait until closing time.
  • At Stock Pot Inn, go into the kitchen and you'll be able to climb up through the roof to the second floor.
  • At Stock Pot Inn, go into the toilet and face the wall with the doorway in it. Walk into it and you'll be forced up onto the stairs above.
  • Head to the dog racing track at Romani Ranch and talk to the fat woman. She'll ask you if you want to play. If you choose "yes", she'll just repeatedly repeat the question until you decline.
  • Go to Milk Road. Run over to the sign that says "Romani Ranch ->" . When you're in front of it, go back a few steps and you'll be near the shorter wall. Then turn to the left and touch the wall. You'll climb onto it. You can jump off into the sky and fall down. Alternatively, when you're on top, jump over to near Tingle. Jump off towards Tingle and swing your sword in the air and it'll burst the balloon. Tingle falls as usual. Now go to Tingle and talk to him. He'll say what he usually says. The game won't freeze (likely because his behavior isn't dependent on your form), and you can buy his maps. If you are careful and don't fall off you can go past the boulder and into the ranch.
  • Enter Cremia and Romani's house at Romani Ranch. In front of you as you enter is a shelf; climb onto it. Now walk into the corner and you'll climb up into the second floor, which is invisible.
  • At Romani Ranch, there is a ramp leading up to the Cucco shack door. On either side of this ramp is a small section of fence; climb onto either of these, then hold Z and backwalk to try and make FD Link grab the top of the fence like a ledge (grab with one hand). If he does, press A to let go and you'll fall through the ground into the void (this can be done with other fences too).
  • The Broken Ladder glitch also works as FD Link.
  • At the entrance to the ranch is a fence. The gap in the middle of the fence has a post on each side; climb onto the right-hand post (right-hand as you enter the ranch) and look towards the dirt bank nearby. Aim for the closest part of this bank and take a running jump off the post towards it. Do a jump attack (Z + A + forwards) at the end of your jump and you'll just be able to make it onto the ledge here. You can now walk around half of the ranch in this small area of land between the tree texture on your right and the bush texture on your left. If you go around to the Cucco shack you can climb onto it's roof and run around up there.
  • Enter the Witch's Shop in the swamp and go between the wall and the large pot; you'll be pushed through the wall into the void.
  • Go onto the corner of the platform that the Witch's Shop is on that is closest to the tree texture, jump off the corner at it, and with a jump attack you'll be able to go over the trees into the void.
  • If you hold Z and swing your sword, the sky becomes darker for a moment.
  • The poison swamp doesn't hurt you.
  • Enter laundry pool. You can climb up the left wall then you can fall into the void.
  • Enter South Clock Town at the first day, climb onto the tower in the middle, then jump over the roofs to the Treasure Chest next to the path to East Clock Town. From the chest, do a rolling jump over to the giant Treasure Chest building and you should just barely be able to reach it. From there, run to the east and you should land on the ground where you can see the entrance to the Shooting Gallery. The door however leads to nowhere, if you enter it FD Link will fall into a void and you will be stuck in an infinite loop until the moon crashes down.
