ZeldaChaos:New Glitch Guidelines

Before adding a new glitch, there are some guidelines that you will need to follow. By following these guidelines, you save both yourself and others from spending unneeded time having to edit your page.

Before adding a glitch

Before you add a glitch to this wiki, you should make sure that it complies with the following terms:

  • The glitch does not already have a page on this site.
  • The glitch can be reproduced and is not something that "only happened once" to you. The reason for this is that (assuming the glitch did occur on your end) it could have been a chance happening; a speck of dust on the cartridge, perhaps. In addition, we need to be sure that you aren't trying to hoax the users.
  • The glitch follows naming guidelines and proper form (see below sections).
  • The glitch does not require Action Replay, Gameshark, Codebreaker, or any other game enhancement device.

Naming your glitch

When you need to give the glitch you found a name, please try to keep it relevant to the glitch itself.
For example, let us say that you have found a new glitch in ALTTP in which (somehow) getting 999 rupees causes the game to crash.

Bad Title:

A Link to the Past Glitches - Freeze Glitch

The problem with a title like this is that it is not specific in the slightest. A "Freeze Glitch" could be caused by a number of different thinga. Merely listing the outcome of a glitch is not sufficient..

Bad Title:

A Link to the Past Glitches - Too Many Rupees Crash

The issue with this kind of title, on the other hand, is that it is the sum of its parts. It doesn't roll off the tongue very easily, either.

Good Title:

A Link to the Past Glitches - Rupee Overload

This title is much better. While it might not directly specify the end result of the glitch, it gives enough information to attract a reader. It also has a unique name, and is much more likely to be visited often.

Glitch Page Design

When creating a new page for a glitch, please use the template designed for such pages. This keeps the page layouts consistant with one another.
See the Glitch Posting Template page for further details.
