Talk:Ocarina of Time Miscellaneous Glitches - Nayru's Crash
From ZeldaChaos
This glitch does work on version 98-11-10 14:34:22 = PAL 1.0(tested myself), if someone can confirm that it doesn't work on version 98-11-18 17:36:49 = PAL 1.1 then it would appear we have found the first known bug fix between these two versions. Perhaps the glitch header needs to be updated Zcwikiadmin (talk) 18:51, 19 April 2013 (EDT)
- This somewhat doesn't relate to this glitch, but does involve the PAL versions. A year or two ago on IRC I had Verführer test a freeze glitch in Hyrule Field involving Fire Arrows and the Song of Storms that only affected PAL v1.0 supposedly. We tested it and it crashed/froze his whole N64 to the point where he couldn't even get the debug menu up or even reset the N64. I tried this same supposed glitch on emulator and managed to reproduce it on v1.0 PAL (with PJ64 giving an opcode error or something of the sort), but not v1.1 PAL (unless by bad luck it just never occurred), so I always figured that this was the only difference/reason why Nintendo made a v1.1 for PAL. If by chance Nayru's Crash doesn't work on PAL v1.1, then there may be more than just one glitch fix as I just explained. Unfortunately, I would love to test both PAL versions on an actual N64 myself, but only Verführer has a PAL v1.0 cart and I don't know of anyone who has a PAL v1.1 cart on this wiki and or anyone willing to test this oddity. - PAL 1.1 is usually called "the" PAL version as it is more common, I guess. So "This DOES NOT work on the PAL N64 version" at the youtube video (embeded in this article) should mean that it doesn't work in PAL 1.1. If one would accept results through emulators and using cheats, one could easily get some items, become an adult and visit Death Mountain / Fire Temple to verify that it doesn't work in PAL 1.1, but in e.g. NTSC 1.2 and PAL 1.0. Of course it can be done without cheats, but that takes more time.
- PAL 1.1 difference compared to e.g. NTSC 1.2 and PAL 1.0: In NTSC 1.2 and PAL 1.0 one uses Nayru's Love and dies, and Nayru's Love is still being activated. In PAL 1.1 the effect from Nayru's Love ends when one dies.
- Another question related to all OoT versions could be: Is there any game technical difference between NTSC 1.2 and PAL 1.0? If not, one maybe could put NTSC 1.2 and PAL 1.0 as version 1.2 and then PAL 1.1 as version 1.3. But even if there is no known difference, it doesn't mean that there is no difference, so maybe it's better to differ between NTSC 1.2 and PAL 1.0 from the beginning.

- Hmmm, what is this Hyrule Field glitch? I'd be interested in it; I've never heard of that glitch before. -- Prince Kassad (talk) 19:06, 23 June 2013 (EDT)

Works with 1.2
I have tested Nayru's Crash on 1.2, and I believe it should be changed. I do believe it was proven before, but I don't know why they changed it.
