Instructions

  1. Like you normally would, turn on your N64 and go to the File Select menu.
  2. Load a file that is not saved using a owl statue and when loaded shows up in Clock Town (A file that is not at the very beginning of the game).
  3. After the "72 hours left" screen immediately press start and pull the left side of the cartridge so the music is high and squeaky. You must crook the cartridge while the "Morning" music is playing and before the main Clock Town music is playing.
  4. The "Morning" music as normal will fade away but the Clock Town music will not play. The screen should flash for about one sixtieth of a second. When you see that flash immediately push in the cartridge. If you do not the entire Nintendo 64 system will crash, not just part of the game.

Results

If done correctly there will be no sound. Every few minutes the game will flash. If you play a song on the ocarina the game may crash. If the game doesn't crash and you play a song then the first note of the song will show up and then you will be stuck playing the song. The debugger is actually running, but you cannot see it most of the time because the game is constantly refreshing. This is apposed to when normally the game moves frame by frame when it crashes. The red debug line does not show up.

Explanation

Ocarina of Time's debugger and Majora's Mask debugger work differently. In Ocarina of Time when the game crashes and you insert the debugger code the debugger "unlocks". In Majora's Mask when the game crashes and you insert the debugger code combination the game refreshes one frame. In Majora's Mask when the game crashes the audio thread the debugger detects it and activates the prompt for the debug code but since the game is constantly refreshing the debugger automatically activates but you cannot see it. The debugger changes the debug page automatically (You cannot control the debugger) and when it does you see a flash.
