Ocarina of Time Miscellaneous Glitches - Double Damage
|
|
|
Requirements
- Bombs or any strength upgrade so you can pick up bomb flowers
- Any ocarina.
Instructions
- Take out a bomb and place it on the ground near you.
- Wait until the bomb explodes, make sure you keep standing near it.
- As it blows up, and as Link takes damage, pull out your Ocarina.
- Put away the ocarina.
Result
If you took your ocarina out fast enough after the explosion, then after you put the ocarina away, Link will be knocked back by nothing and take damage again.
Explanation
The bomb (and the bombchu as well) has an animated explosion - that is, the explosion image is small at first but becomes gradually larger. The way this explosion was programmed makes it produces "bursts" of damage with every stage, until the explosion has dissolved.
Normally, Link can only be hit once by this explosion, because he gains sufficient invulnerability time after one hit that the explosion dissolves before he can take damage again. However, the invulnerability time counts down when you're playing the ocarina, too. So by pulling out the ocarina, the invulnerability time expires, and once you take away the ocarina the explosion, which is still there, will inflict damage to Link again. While the animation does play while the ocarina is out, the damage burst freezes in place, which is what makes it look as if you were hit by nothing.
This glitch can be performed with many other things as well which continously produce bursts of damage, like lava pits.
Method 2
Requirements
- Bombs or any Strength upgrade so you can pick up bomb flowers.
- Farore's Wind.
Instructions
- Set up a warp point.
- Take out a bomb and place it on the ground near you.
- Wait until the bomb explodes, make sure you keep standing near it.
- When the Bomb explodes, use Farore's Wind.
- Cancel the menu.
Result
If you keep repeating steps 3-5, you will keep getting damage from the bomb each time you cancel the menu, until the explosion ends.
