Ocarina of Time Miscellaneous Glitches - Ghost Item
Instructions
- Get into the battle with Ganondorf (the man) and defeat him.
- While you are escaping the collapsing Castle, perform the Ocarina Items glitch and warp somewhere.
Result
When you get there, the timer (telling you how long you have until the Castle collapses) will still be on-screen but will read 00:01; as you might expect, it will run out in one second, and when it does, the message "Oh dear it looks like the item you were carrying has spoiled, you better..." appears onscreen, the screen then fades to white, and loads you back into the area.
Explanation
The message appears because the game forgets why there's a timer. The game keeps track of why there's a timer based on where you are -- if you're in Ganon's Castle, the timer denotes the time you have to escape; otherwise, you're delivering an item. (Yes, I know there are other reasons that a timer can appear on-screen, but in those cases the game appears to use some variable as a "memory aid", whereas here, it likely does not.)
