Ocarina of Time Miscellaneous Glitches - Infinite Heart Pieces
From ZeldaChaos
Also known as Heart Piece Cloning.
Requirements
- Make sure you have the Ocarina equipped.
- A controller or emulator with rapid-fire functions is necessary if you don't want to sit for a half an hour pressing a button over and over and over and over again.
- You can't have gotten the heart piece from the skull kid yet.
- A piece of paper to record the number of clones you've made.
- Lots of time.
Instructions
- Enter the Lost Woods and take a left.
- Bombchu Hover over the entrance you just came through, as shown in the first video. (You may need to use staircase hovering)
- Now use Actor Cloning to clone the skull kid however many times you want. It is vital you record how many times you clone the skull kid! If you're doing a large amount of cloning, recording them by fives can be helpful. See notes and second video.
- Now that you've cloned your skull kids, go jump onto the stump. This can be a little more complex than it sounds if you've cloned a lot of skull kids and the graphics are frozen. See notes and second video again.
- Now start playing Saria's Song on the ocarina over and over again for every skull kid you cloned, minus one. If you have 12 skull kids (11 clones) play exactly 11 Saria's Songs. If you have 98 skull kids (97 clones) play exactly 97 Saria's Songs. One skull kid must remain without you having played the song for him. If you accidentally play for that last skull kid, you will only get one heart piece which means you will have to start all over again! See notes again.
- Once you're done with the Ocarina songs, press "B" and move forward a little. Once they start talking, then you just keep on pressing "A" until they have all talked to you (may take 30 minutes). This is where a rapid-fire controller really comes in handy, just tape down the rapid-fire button. They all need to talk to you, so no calculation is needed here. Use you're sword every once in a while to see if Link has finished talking with the skull kids.
- Now just walk left to jump back on the stump and collect your heart pieces. Rapid-fire won't work that well here because of all the lag, so you'll have to press "B" here for each heart piece slowly by hand.
- Now just go through the loading zone into another area, save, and restart the game. Don't try going anywhere else right after getting the heart pieces; the game is so stuffed with memory, it can't load anything more.
Result
You now got a lot of heart pieces, giving you up to 24 1/4 new heart containers! (if you cloned 97 skull kids)
Notes
- When you have cloned something like 20 skull kids, graphics start to lag badly when you look at him. To help with this, use side stepping to go in and out of the exit so you're not looking at him.
- With enough clones the graphics may freeze completely when you look at him, but the game should still be running, so when you retrieve your heart pieces, you'll just have to navigate to the skull kid and platform without seeing (sound may help a little). Make sure you don't press start or use any bombs while the graphics are frozen, or the game itself will freeze, forcing you to start all over.
- At least on the GameCube, although it may be different for other systems, you can have a maximum of 98 skull kids (97 clones) before the black loading point will disappear, and you'll have to start over.
- When trying to navigate to the skull kids (assuming the graphics are frozen), try aiming yourself along the wall, and listen to see if Link jumps onto the stump. If he doesn't go back and try again. Make sure you don't go too near the skull kids, as then they will fly away, undoing all your work.
- The game itself will slow down drastically the more you play the Ocarina. So when taking the Ocarina out I'd recommend you hold down the "C" button for a short time to make sure you brought it out. Do not just tap the button, it may screw up the whole glitch!
