Instructions

1. As Swordless Link call Epona and mount her.
2. Go to Lon-Lon Ranch and talk to Malon. Choose to do the Obstacle Course.
3. Once you have started the course, use the Ocarina to dismount Epona, and play the Sun's Song.
4. You'll appear back at the ranch at night. Enter and exit any building.
5. Play the Sun's Song once again.
6. Walk over to Malon.

Result

As you near her she'll start talking to you, and tell you what your time for the race was. Whatever the timer said when you played the Sun's Song for the first time will be your new record.
