Requirements

  • Grappling Hook

Instructions

  1. Go to the temple in Isle of the Dead.
  2. In the first room, position yourself just very slightly to the north of the two tombstones, then use the Grappling Hook to create a rope between them. (If the Grappling Hook hits the wall, you went too far north. If you have to move up instead of down to bounce on the rope in the next step, you went too far south.)
  3. Use the rope to jump over the corridor.

Result

You will now walk in an area of the corridor past where the exit of the room is programmed. As such, you can walk around in a normally-inaccessible portion of the corridor. From this part of the corridor, you can walk north into the void or south into the room's normal exit.

Explanation

The reason you can walk around in the far part of the corridor in this way is probably due to how on-foot exits are programmed in Phantom Hourglass. The game was not programmed to handle exiting an area while in midair, only while Link's feet are on the ground. Going over the exit sector while in midair does not trigger the exit sector since the exit sector does not extend to midair. As a result, Link finds himself in an area of the corridor that's beyond the exit sector.
