Instructions

1. Steal the rod.
2. dive underwater.
3. save your game while underwater.

Result

You are now swordless.

This happens because while you have stolen the rod,your b button is set to the fishing rod and when you save,it is immediately set back to a deku stick,but since you are underwater it is unable to set it to even that resulting in blank b swordless link.
