Instructions

1. Find an object that Navi turns green and hovers around, but that you can't Z-Target (has to be something that you can read, examine etc.).
2. Press A to read/examine it, and while the text is on-screen, press and hold Z.
3. Still holding Z, get rid of the text with A, B or C-Up.

Result

Once the text disappears you'll be locked onto the object; letting go of Z will de-lock-onto it..

You can try this on the carpet in front of Darunia's room, the large stone at the start of the Kakariko Graveyard, the Spiritual Stones in the Temple of Time, or the Triforce symbols on the ground in front of the Great Fairy's Fountains.
