If you time it right, Link will pull out the Ocarina right as the Boomerang (and its accompanying Gold Skulltula token) return.

Notes

This is the better of the two methods as it works on any Golden Skulltula you can find as a child, it is slightly harder though.

Requirements

  • This glitch can only be done as Child Link because...
  • You need the Boomerang.

Instructions

  1. Find any Golden Skulltula. Kill it, but don't collect its Token.
  2. Equip the Ocarina and the Boomerang.
  3. Throw your Boomerang at the Golden Skulltula.
  4. As the Boomerang reaches Link with the Token in tow, pull out the Ocarina -- you must pull it out about half a second before you get the Token.
If done correctly, Link will begin to take out the Ocarina, pause for a second to grab the boomerang out of midair, then continue to take out the Ocarina. The message box stating that you got a Golden Skulltula token may briefly appear, and the "you got something" tune will play.
  5. Warp somewhere, or play the Sun's Song if you're in an area where time doesn't pass.

Result

After leaving (or "refreshing") the map, check your Gold Skulltula count -- you should have obtained a Gold Skulltula Token, but if you go back to the Gold Skulltula you killed, it will still be alive -- and killing it will yield another token, allowing you to get up to 255 tokens (normally, only 100 can be obtained).

Tips

If you're having trouble taking out the Ocarina at exactly the right moment try this:

  1. When the Boomerang has almost returned to you, pull out the Ocarina.
  2. Continue button-mashing the C-button the Ocarina is equipped to, and the B button, alternating between each. (C, B, C, B, C, B...) Continue this until the Boomerang returns to you.

What this should make you do is take out the Ocarina, put it away, take it out straight away, and so on. Every time you put the Ocarina away, the Boomerang will get marginally closer, just make sure to stop when you get the Boomerang. The button-mashing trick does not work on the 3DS because the Boomerang returns to you immediately after you exit "Ocarina Mode."
