Instructions

1. Steal the Fishing Rod.
2. Once outside with the rod jump into the lake.
3. Climb out of the water onto land.
4. Pause the game.
5. Unpause the game.

Result

You will now have a Deku Stick equipped to the B button. The Deku Stick should have replaced the sword you had on the B button; saving the game will make this replacement permanent. On the Nintendo 64 version, trying to use the Deku Stick as Adult Link will freeze the game, unless you have exactly 0 Deku Sticks in your inventory. The Deku Stick can be used on the Gamecube version provided you have at least one in your inventory, but the Deku Stick will be invisible. On the 3DS version, they are usable and they will look like the Hylian Shield. (Double Shield action!)
