ZeldaChaos:Testing Glitches
This article should help teach you on how to test glitches with ease. Let's say, for example, that you are at the beginning of the game and don't wish to sit through all of those lengthy cutscenes. Such things can take up quite a bit of time. Even if you DO happen to be able to [and do] enable cheats that automatically obtain all of the items and quest items for you, you will still have to sit through a lot of cinematics just to reach your glitch (or if you were going to verify one, do that.)
There are a number methods that may allow you to accomplish this, but there are only THREE good methods to get past all cutscenes:
- Use Beta Quest.
- Map Select.
- Other Glitches (If you are not using cheats)
Method 1: Using Beta Quest
As you may well be aware, Beta Quest is well known for making what are otherwise normal exits lead you to unpredicted areas which may or may not crash the game on arrival. Either way, using this will get you out into Hyrule Field easily. So you can easily skip the beginning cutscenes and introduction to the game. Just turn on Beta Quest, go into Kakariko Village and then leave. Alternatively, you can turn on Beta Quest, turn off the cheats, and wend into any exit and the game will load properly again. This may or may not help you in your getting to a point where testing whatever glitch you have is possible. The only downside to this is that you will always start in Hyrule Field.
Majora's Mask Beta Quest is quite limited. In fact if I recall, there are only a couple of entry points. Once again this approach is neither the easiest norbthe most effect. Method 2, on the other hand...
Method 2: Using Map Select
As you may or may not know, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time both have a built-in Map Select. This was for debugging purposes and for helping developers get to areas swiftly. This feature is quite helpful, as it lists every area in the game (allowing travel to wherever need be.) The thing is... getting Map Select to actually WORK can end up being a hassle in and of itself. Plus, the code enabling it is difficult to obtain and is region specific. In any case, one of the most interesting things ABOUT Map Select, is that one can use it to shift betwixt Link's age and/or things relating to the days. Alternatively, just use the "OPT" function to change the area thereby forcing a cutscene/activity. This will allow one to reach the third day very easily if need be, for example.

Method 3: Using Other Glitches
If you're not using emulation, don't have a Gameshark, Action Replay, Codebreaker, then the very best way to get anywhere swiftly is through the use of other glitches. One can skip the Door of Time, get into most of adult Link's dungeons as a child (and even some of child Link's dungeons as an adult), one can skip almost any cutscene, and much more, just by the use of glitches.
Closing
The use of the built-in Map Select tool will be of good use to anyone who wishes to perform an area-specific glitch. Ultimately, it is highly recommended for one to use the Map Select cheat if at all possible, so as to have swift and hassle-free transport to the area one needs to reach.
